Halloween is originally a Christian Holiday, and the name "Halloween" was derived from the Old English word "Hallow" which means "Holy". Halloween is also known as "All Hallow's Eve", because the Holiday is celebrated on October 31, the day before the Solemnity of All Saints (November 1). It is said that a long time ago, the celebration of Halloween is sacred, and children dress themselves as their favorite Patron Saints to honor them and their holiness. Sadly, Halloween lost its sacredness, and children of today dress themselves as monsters, demons, witches and anything scary, and many people think of Halloween as a Pagan Holiday, instead of a Christian Holiday. What happened to the Christian Halloween? And who started the idea of dressing as monsters during Halloween?

There are a few documents on this. We co-opted the original Pagan Samhain as part of our conversion process in the Celtic areas. It's similar to putting Christmas in December rather than sometime in Fall. These were decisions made by the Pope and Papacy, not something from the Bible. Good question though, just a bit misinformed.

Halloween was actually Samhain. That's a pagan festival celebrating the end of harvest and the dead. The Catholics came in and changed it to All Hallows' Eve when they realized the pagans wouldn't give up their holidays. Easter is a fertility festival (that's why there are rabbits and eggs). And Christmas celebrates the winter solstice (that's why it's celebrated with an evergreen tree. All the religious "christian" holidays are covers of pagan holidays. Haven't you ever wondered why rabbits and eggs (pagan symbols of fertility) are used to celebrate Easter? Or why Easter is called Easter? Look it up. None of these are actually Christian holidays.

It is a "pagan" holiday. It was never a christian holiday. They lied to u. Christians accepted it as a holiday because the ppl wud not accept being christian if they didnt keep their holidays so the emperor made it a christian holiday tho it had existed longer than christianity.
