I'm Black/African-American. Can I pull off being Kate Middleton for Halloween?

After seeing a quirky headpiece (like the hats they wear to special events in England), I got the inspiration to be Kate MIddleton for a Halloween party I'm going to. I would wear the headpiece I mentioned (black with black feathers and a bow made of netting), plus a replica of the blue dress she wore for her engagement announcement, a fake engagement ring like hers (bought one yesterday), simple tan pumps and maybe a black blazer. I also do a killer British accent and would use that to stay "in character" all evening. I might even get a lapel pin of the British flag or the Royal crest to put it over the top.

Problem is, I don't *look* anything like Kate Middleton. I am on the heavier side, and I'm a woman of color (albeit on the light-skinned side). People in my family think it's a stupid idea for a costume for me because 1) they don't think Kate is famous enough to be recognizable as a character/costume and 2) the lack of resemblence to her.

Should I go for it and just have fun with it, or be something else for a Halloween party I'm going to?

Um, you can dress up as her but I think you might have a lot of explaining to do, lol...or wear a name tag that says Kate Middleton. Not trying to be mean but your family is right...obviously your costume won't be so apparent to other people...you can dress up as her with her wedding gown, but that would be pretty expensive for a costume.

Just dress up as something else for Halloween...there are a lot of fun options you can choose from, and just use Kate as a style model for every day fashion :)

You can imitate Kate for Halloween. Just make sure that your attire matches hers. If you still feel uncomfortable, you can go as an African queen. To many, Cleopatra was black; this is inaccurate, though. But who cares? An Egyptian costume is a lot more exciting, right? Be Kate if you wish. There is nothing wrong with that. Being black, gold would look nice on you.

Kate Middleton became into born and grew up in Berkshire which makes her English. notwithstanding, as she is married to the oldest son of the inheritor obvious and he's line to inherit the throne of various self reliant countries and is hence a senior member of the Royal relatives of those countries regardless of if she's purely British is open to communicate.
